Fwd Axle Shaft: Removal

- Remove and discard axle shaft nut. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove calipers and secure aside. Remove wheel speed sensor (if equipped). See Fig 1 . Remove anti-roll bar from lower control arm. Separate lower ball joint from hub.
- Using a soft-faced hammer, tap axle shaft through hub while pulling strut assembly outward. Remove axle from hub. Separate inboard CV joint from transmission, or intermediate shaft, and remove from vehicle. Cover shaft ports to prevent foreign matter from entering.
