Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Engine Off Time
At outside temperatures above 35.6Β°F (2Β°C), and depending on how long the engine has been off, there may be the risk of the windshield misting (from condensation in the evaporator) the next time the engine is started.
When ignition is turned on, the Saab Information Display (SID) calculates how long the engine has been off and sends this information to the A/C-heater control panel.
On the basis of the engine off time, in-vehicle temperature and outside temperature, the A/C-heater control panel calculates whether the windshield is likely to mist up. If misting is likely, airflow will be directed toward floor for a maximum of 30 seconds. Afterwards, the automatic A/C-heater will resume its normal mode of operation.
