  1. Disconnect control module connector. Connect Breakout Box (86 11 006) to wiring connector. See Figure. Check voltage between pins No. 17 and 1, and between pin No. 18 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Check voltage between pin No. 4 and voltage, and between pin No. 5 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, wiring is defective. If battery voltage is not present, check voltage between pin No. 23 and voltage, and between pin No. 24 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, wiring is defective. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  3. Check voltage between pin No. 8 and voltage, and between pin No. 26 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, wiring is defective. If battery voltage is not present, check voltage between pin No. 27 and voltage, and between pin No. 10 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  4. Check voltage between pin No. 15 and voltage, and between pin No. 16 and voltage. If battery voltage is present, wiring is defective. If battery voltage is not present, passenger-side air bag or resistor are defective.
  5. Disconnect driver-side air bag module connector. Check voltage between breakout box pin No. 17 and voltage, and between pin No. 18 and voltage. If battery voltage is not present, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is present, wiring is defective.
  6. Disconnect right front sensor connector. Check voltage between breakout box pin No. 27 and voltage, and between pin No. 10 and voltage. If voltage is not present, wiring is defective between connector and sensor. If voltage is present, wiring is defective between connector and control module.
