Fuel Pressure Release: Removal
1993 Saab 9000 CD, 2.3 B, StandardSECTION Removal
- Open hood. Remove battery and windshield washer fluid reservoir. Disconnect electrical cable from battery tray. Remove clamps for positive cable under the tray. Remove fuel filter. Remove battery tray.
- Disconnect wiring from mass airflow meter. Remove mass airflow meter. Disconnect by-pass hose from turbocharger output duct (if equipped). Remove turbocharger outlet duct (if equipped).
- Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body. Remove gear selector cable from transaxle lever. DO NOTΒ separate ball joint. Disconnect oil cooler hose from top of transaxle.
- Disconnect gear selector cable from transaxle. Disconnect oil cooler hose from front of transaxle. Remove turbocharger oil supply hose clamp (if equipped) from transaxle.
- Remove negative battery cable. Disconnect speed sensor wiring from transaxle. Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts that are accessible from above. Remove upper starter retaining bolt. Disconnect starter brace.
- Support engine from above. Raise and support vehicle. Remove left front wheel. Remove fender liner. Remove starter motor without disconnecting cables. Suspend starter motor from chassis.
- Remove torque converter-to-flexplate bolts. Remove 2 ball joint- to-lower suspension arm bolts. Disconnect anti-roll bar from lower suspension arm.
- Remove front engine mount bolt. Remove bolts that retain subframe to front of vehicle. Loosen bolts that retain rear of subframe to vehicle. Carefully lower front of subframe.
- Remove clamps around axle shaft universal joint boots. Withdraw axle shafts from transaxle. Support weight of transaxle with jack.
- Remove remaining transaxle-to-engine bolts. Separate transaxle from engine. Lower transaxle from vehicle.
