Fault Code 2A

1990 Saab 900 Base, 2D Convertible, StandardSECTION Fault Code 2A
  1. Disconnect 2-pin air bag connector at base of steering column. Ensure shorting bar contacts open when connector cover is compressed. Reconnect connector.
  2. Erase fault code. See ERASING FAULT CODES FROM MEMORY under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMΒ  . Turn ignition switch to ON position and wait at least 35 seconds. If code reappears, go to next step.
  3. Remove air bag module and disconnect connector behind module. See AIR BAG MODULEΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for shorting between pins and sleeve in connector. Connect Resistor (8471153) to connector. Erase fault code. Turn ignition switch to ON position and turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. If fault code reappears, go to next step.
  4. Reconnect air bag module. Turn ignition switch to ON position and wait at least 35 seconds to see if code clears. If code reappears, install a new air bag module.
  5. If code clears, disconnect 2-pin air bag connector at base of steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position and wait at least 35 seconds to see if code clears. If code reappears, fault is in wire harness between air bag connector and ECU. If wire harness is okay, replace ECU. Ignore fault Code 27 if it is generated by this test. If code clears, reconnect air bag connector and ensure test resistor is still connected.
  6. Erase fault code. Turn ignition switch to ON position and turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. If code reappears, install a new air bag unit.
