NOTE:
Some vehicles that have to be scrapped may have an undeployed air bag. When scrapping a vehicle with an undeployed air bag, air bag must be deployed before vehicle can be scrapped.
- Before proceeding, follow service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ . Ensure vehicle is located outside away from other vehicles and people. Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Ensure air bag module is firmly mounted to steering wheel. Remove lower steering column panel. Disconnect Orange connector at base of steering column. Connect Detonating Device (84 71 104) to air bag side of connector. Run wire leads through door opening and close all doors and windows. Move 30 feet away from vehicle.
- Connect detonating device to a 12-volt battery. Depress button on Detonating device to deploy air bag. Because of heat, wait 30 minutes before touching deployed air bag.
