- Place shift lever in 3rd gear position. Loosen pinch bolt at gear selector shaft joint on engine side of firewall. See Fig 1 .
- Lock gearshift lever into 3rd gear position in gearshift housing with a .24" (6 mm) drift. It may be necessary to pry up carpeting in front of shift lever console for access to shift rod.
- Slip Locking Device (87 91 576) into hole in shift lever input shaft and then into differential cover. See Fig 1 . This locks transaxle into 3rd gear. Tighten pinch bolt at gearshift joint to 22-26 ft. lbs. (20-35 N.m).
