Work Procedure:
1 Preparatory work
1.1 Connect battery charger. --> Workshop Manual '2X00IN01 Battery trickle charging'
1.2 Find the frequency range of the PCM or car radio.
1.2.1 PCM frequency range
Switch on PCM and select Frequency selection using the right rotary knob. The frequency range limits are shown in the display. Take note of the frequency range and switch off PCM.
1.2.2 CDR car radio frequency range
Switch on CDR and press the button for setting the frequency manually MAN. Use the right push/rotary knob to find the minimum and maximum frequency, take note of the frequency and switch off CDR.
1.3 Remove PCM. --> Workshop Manual '911019 Removing and installing display and operator control unit (PCM2)' or
Remove car radio. --> Workshop Manual '91241900 Removing and installing car radio'
1.4 Remove center console cover. --> Workshop Manual '681919 Removing and installing cover for centre console'
1.5 Remove front air-conditioning system regulator. --> Workshop Manual '870219 Removing and installing front air-conditioning system regulator'
1.6 Remove front ashtray. --> Workshop Manual '682019 Removing and installing front ashtray'

1.7 Remove device carrier. --> Figure 4 -A-.
1.7.1 Remove screw --> Figure 4 -B-.
1.7.2 Pull device carrier towards the rear --> Figure 4 -arrow- and plug out connector --> Figure 4 -C-.
2 Prepare connector setup in center console.
2.1 Mark bore holes in the middle if necessary. Do not exceed dimension X = 12 mm, measured from the floor. (See also --> Figure 6).

NOTE:
Remove metal shavings produced by drilling using a vacuum cleaner.

Drill two holes with a diameter of 10 mm in the center console and rework them until the connector --> Figure 6 -A- from the wire harness (retrofit kit) can be pushed through.
NOTE:
Use a bit stop (25-mm setting) if necessary to prevent damage to underlying components.

2.2 Insert console --> Figure 7-A- in center console storage bin and drill three holes with a diameter of 2.5 mm --> Figure 7 -B- in the center console floor.
Remove console from center console storage bin.
3 Install wire harness (retrofit kit) in center console.
NOTE:
Figures 8 - 10 show the routing of the auxiliary line on a vehicle with an air-conditioning line with mechanical control (I-no. 9AB) or Climatonic (I-no. 9AD). There is no air duct --> Figure 9 -C- on vehicles with 4-zone air conditioning. The auxiliary line is routed in the same way as the air-conditioning line with mechanical control (I-no. 9AB) or Climatonic (I-no, 9AD).

3.1 Route auxiliary line (e.g, Tekalan line) --> Figure 8 -A- in direction of arrow under the transverse strut --> Figure 8 -B- at the right past the selector lever support --> Figure 9 towards the rear --> Figure 10.

3.2 Secure wire harness (retrofit kit) to the auxiliary line.
Use the auxiliary line to route the wire harness (retrofit kit) --> Figure 11 -B- in direction of arrow through the center console.
Guide connector --> Figure 11 -A- through the bore hole.
Disconnect auxiliary line from wire harness (retrofit kit).

3.3 Connect connector for wire harness (retrofit kit) --> Figure 12 -A- to the console.
3.4 Remove tool for manual sunroof locking mechanism from the storage bin.

3.5 Fit console --> Figure 13 -A- and secure with three new screws (4.2 x 16) --> Figure 13 -B-.
3.6 Place tool for manual sunroof locking mechanism in the console.

3.7 Place rubber insert --> Figure 14 -A- in center console storage bin.
4 Connect electric wire harness (retrofit kit).
WARNING:
Working on the vehicle electrical system
- Risk of short circuit and fire.
--> Disconnect and cover the battery.
--> Route electric wires without tension so that no chafing occurs.
--> Secure electric wires to existing wires/components using tie-wraps and/or wrapping tape.
4.1 Disconnect the battery. --> Workshop Manual '9000IN00 Work instructions after disconnecting the battery'

4.2 Release secondary lock --> Figure 15 -A- on the black 8-pin connector (PCM power supply).

4.3 Join RD 0.5(2) line (retrofit kit) to RD/YE 2.5(2) line (term. 30, chamber 4).
