6 Inspect the steering shaft bearings for wear or damage.

7 Inspect the intermediate shaft upper universal joint for wear or damage.
Is the intermediate shaft upper universal joint worn or damaged?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 8 
8 Inspect the intermediate shaft lower universal joint for wear or damage.
Is the intermediate shaft lower universal joint worn or damaged?
Go to Step 12  Verify customer concern, go to Strategy Based Diagnosis in General information.

Tighten the steering column components to the required specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .Did you complete the repair?

10 Replace the SIR coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement in SIR.

11 Replace the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement  in Steering Wheel and Column.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
12 Replace the intermediate steering shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement 
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
13 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
