- With the ignition OFF, inspect the crankshaft balancer bolt for the proper torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications
.
- If the crankshaft balancer bolt is not at the proper torque, refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
- Remove the intake CMP actuator solenoid. Refer to Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement .
- Connect a jumper wire between the high control circuit of the CMP actuator solenoid and battery voltage. Connect a jumper wire between the low reference circuit of the CMP actuator solenoid and a good ground. The pintle of the solenoid should move.
- If the pintle inside the CMP actuator solenoid does not move, replace the CMP actuator solenoid.
- Inspect the intake CMP actuator for binding or being stuck.
- Inspect the engine for correct valve timing. Refer to Timing Chain, Sprockets, and/or Tensioner Replacement .
