Installation Procedure
- Lower the generator into the engine compartment and connect the generator electrical connections.
Tighten: Tighten the B+ cable to generator nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Guide the generator into the engine block with the upper mounting bolt positioned in the generator mounting hole.
- Position the generator and install the upper mounting bolts and finger tighten.
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Install the lower generator mounting bolts.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the upper generator mounting bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Install the belt tensioner to the engine block.
Tighten: Tighten the belt tensioner bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Install the accessory drive belt.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten: Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
- Reprogram the radio stations.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
