Installation Procedure

2006 Pontiac G6 GTP, 2D Coupe, StandardSECTION Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Lower the generator into the engine compartment and connect the generator electrical connections.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the B+ cable to generator nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  2. Guide the generator into the engine block with the upper mounting bolt positioned in the generator mounting hole.
  3. Position the generator and install the upper mounting bolts and finger tighten.
  4. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Install the lower generator mounting bolts.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Tighten the upper generator mounting bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  8. Install the belt tensioner to the engine block.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the belt tensioner bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  9. Install the accessory drive belt.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  11. Reprogram the radio stations.
