NOTE: The new SIR coil assembly will be centered. Improper alignment of the SIR coil assembly may damage the unit, causing an inflatable restraint malfunction.
Preliminary Procedure:Β Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .

Procedure:Β 
Disconnect any electrical connectors as needed.
Tip:Β 
  • Ensure the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil washer does not need to be replaced and is installed correctly before reinstalling the coil.
  • If reusing the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil it must centered before reinstalling it. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil CenteringΒ .
