Removal Procedure
2004 Pontiac GTO StandardSECTION Removal Procedure
- Remove the shifter control knob retaining screw (1).
- Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Carefully lift the lower housing assembly (1) from the base, disengaging the 3 locating tabs.
- Disconnect the traction control switch connector (2).
- Remove the selector lamp holder (3) from the lower housing (1).
- Remove the lower housing, upper cover, gearshift lever, knob and boot as an assembly from the shift lever.
- Separate the lower housing (2) from the upper cover (3) by releasing the 4 locking tabs (1).
- Remove the traction control switch (1) from the lower housing.
