DTC U1096, Instrument Panel Class 2 Source Id 60: Notes

BCM receives a state of health message from module whose source ID is has learned. DTC U1096 will set when BCM does not receive a state of health message from Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). No driver warning message will be displayed.

Under all fault conditions, ignition switch must be cycled from OFF to RUN position before a current code will change to a history code. A current DTC U1096 will change to a history code receives a state of health message. If conditions for malfunction no longer exist, history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles. DTC U1096 will also clear when scan tool is used to clear codes.

NOTE: If DTC U1096 is a history code, problem may be intermittent. Wiggle wires while performing the following test.
