Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

1991 Pontiac Trans Sport SE, 3T40/MD9SECTION Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

The VSS is mounted in the transaxle. VSS produces an A/C signal proportional to the speed of transaxle rotation. The signal is amplified and converted to DC signal by VSS buffer. Signal is transmitter to ECM, cruise control module, and speedometer. The ECM, cruise control module, and speedometer convert electrical signal to determine vehicle speed.
