Washer Pump Test

1990 Pontiac Firebird Formula, 5.0 F, Automatic, 4L60/MD8SECTION Washer Pump Test

Check washer pump operation before removing pump from vehicle. Disconnect wiring harness connection at washer pump. Apply a 12-volt source to terminals. See Fig 1 .

  • If washer pump motor does not pump water or run at all, replace washer pump.
  • If washer pump motor runs and pumps water, problem is in the wiper/washer switch or harness.
