Lubrication System: Notes

1990 Pontiac 6000 LE, 4D Sedan, 2.5 RSECTION Notes

The gerotor-type oil pump, driven by the crankshaft force balancer assembly, supplies pressurized oil to the internal passage on the right side of cylinder block. Internal passage intersects with the hydraulic lifter bosses, where the oil flows to the main and camshaft bearings.

Oil is supplied to the rocker arms and upper engine components through the drilled push rods. A by-pass valve is located in the oil filter mounting bracket. Oil pressure regulator valve is mounted in the oil pump body.
