Adjuster Plug Assembly: Disassembly

1987 Pontiac Grand Prix Brougham, 5.0 HSECTION Disassembly
  1. Remove thrust bearing retainer and discard. Remove thrust bearing dust seal. Ensure that needle bearing bore is not damaged during removal process. Remove adjuster plug.

  2. Remove and discard "O" ring. Remove bearing retainer See Fig 1 . Remove small upper bearing race and thrust bearing spacer. Remove large upper bearing race and thrust bearing.
  3. To remove needle bearing, use a correct size arbor to press bearing from adjuster plug.
