Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Engine Oiling System
When engine is started, the oil pump draws oil from the pan, pumps it through the filter and into passage along right side of the block where it intersects lifter bosses. Oil is then routed to camshaft and crankshaft bearings through smaller drilled passages.
Oil is pumped through push rods to the rocker arms as supplied by hydraulic lifters. By-pass valves are located in the pick-up screen, oil filter mounting and oil pump. Oil returns to the pan through return holes in head and block.
