Strut Assembly: Disassembly
1984 Pontiac 6000 STESECTION Disassembly
- Mount strut in compressor using bottom adapter (J-26584-400 ) on "A" and "X" bodies and J-26584-86 on "J" bodies). Install top adapter (J-26584-430 on "A" and "X" bodies and J-26584-88 on "J" bodies). Compress strut spring about 1/2".
- Remove top nut from strut damper shaft. Use alignment rod (J-34013-27 ) to guide damper shaft through spring cap while decompressing spring. Remove strut assembly from compressor tool. Remove strut mounting assembly, spring shield, strut bumper and spring. See Figure .
