Grid Filament Repair

NOTE: To repair grid lines or terminals, use Mopar Repair Kit No. 4267922.
  1. Clean repair area with window cleaner. Wipe repair area with clean dry cloth to remove any lint. Mask repair area so that repair compound can be overlapped onto broken grid filament or bus bar. See Fig 1 . Place masking tape along both sides of grid filament.
  2. Apply repair compound to repair area, overlapping onto existing grid area by approximately 3/4". Apply a thin layer of repair compound to terminal location and adjacent area.
  3. Apply a thin layer of repair compound to terminal and place terminal in desired position. Clamp or wedge terminal to prevent movement. Carefully remove masking tape from repair area. Allow repair compound to cure for 24 hours at room temperature, or use heat gun with heat range of 500-700°F (260-371°C) for 15 minutes.
    CAUTION: DO NOT  allow glass surface to exceed 400°F (204°C), or glass may fracture.
  4. Hold heat gun approximately 10" from repair area. After repair compound has properly cured, remove wedge or clamp. Check operation of rear defogger. DO NOT  attach connectors until curing is complete.
