Steering Column: Description
Steering column is a collapsible design which uses an intermediate shaft between steering column and steering rack. Steering column assembly contains a combination switch, ignition switch and steering lock assembly. See Fig 1. Tilt column is standard.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
