Front Differential: Reassembly

- Install spacers on back of side gears and install into differential case. Install washers on back of pinions and install into case while turning side gears. Install pinion shaft. Measure backlash between pinion and side gears.
- Adjustments to pinion backlash should provide same backlash for both side gears. Front differential pinion backlash should be .001-.006" (.025-.150 mm).
- Install NEW pinion shaft lock pin and ensure lock pin head is lower than case flange surface. Press ball bearings in place at ends of differential.
- Apply 3M STUD LOCK (4170) to bolts and install differential drive gear. Torque drive gear bolts to 96-103 ft. lbs. (130-140 N.m) in crisscross pattern. See Fig 1 .
