Spark Test
Check for spark at coil wire and at each spark plug wire using a high-output spark tester. Check spark plug wire resistance on suspect wires. Resistance should not be greater than specification. See HIGH TENSION WIRE RESISTANCE (1.8L) table.

When to See a Mechanic
