WARNING: On models equipped with Driver Airbag Restraint System, it is necessary to follow special procedures when servicing steering column components. These procedures are necessary to avoid accidental deployment of airbag which may cause damage or personal injury.
1. Refer to images above for steering column removal, noting the following:
a. Disconnect battery ground cable.
b. Remove trim clip (2) by lightly pushing pin at center of clip with a Phillips screwdriver, then pull out clip.
NOTE: Do not push pin in any further than necessary.
c. Remove steering wheel using a suitable puller.
CAUTION: Do not hammer on steering wheel to remove, as the collapsible mechanism may be damaged.
d. On Colt Wagon models, straighten claws of column switch (13), remove two attaching screws, then the column switch.
e. Reverse procedure to install.
