Control Unit

1989 Plymouth Colt DL, 1.5 X, StandardSECTION Control Unit
NOTE: For ease of understanding, components are grouped into 2 categories. The first category, INPUT DEVICES, is components which control or produce voltage signals that are monitored by the ECU. The second category, OUTPUT DEVICES, are components that are controlled by the ECU (this is usually accomplished by the ECU grounding individual circuits).

The ECU receives and processes signals from data sensors and switches to control fuel delivery. The frequency and duration of injection (fuel delivery time) is controlled by ECU. Fuel delivery time is modified for such operating conditions as cold starting, altitude, acceleration and deceleration.
