Throttle Control Cable

1984 Plymouth Horizon Base, 1.6 ASECTION Throttle Control Cable

  1. Ensure carburetor is not on fast idle cam (disconnect choke if necessary). Loosen adjustment bracket lock screw. Ensure bracket slides freely along full length of adjustment. See Fig 1 .
  2. Slide bracket to the left (toward engine) to the limit of its travel. Release bracket and move throttle lever fully to the right against its internal stop and tighten lock screw. This completes adjustment. Cable backlash is automatically removed.
  3. To check cable freedom of operation, move transaxle throttle lever forward and slowly release. Ensure cable returns to full rear position.
