Shift Linkage

1984 Plymouth Horizon Base, 1.6 ASECTION Shift Linkage

  1. Remove lock pin from selector shaft housing located on top of transaxle. Push selector shaft inward to align hole in shaft with hole in shaft housing. Reverse lock pin and install long end through housing into selector shaft. Selector shaft is now locked in the 3-4 neutral position.
  2. Remove gearshift knob and boot. Loosen crossover cable adjusting screw and retighten to 70 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). DO NOTΒ  move crossover bellcrank when tightening adjusting screw.
  3. Reverse removal procedure for remaining components. Remove lock pin and reinstall with long end away from housing. Tighten lock pin to 70 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Check shift and reverse lock-out operation.
