WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Plymouth Acclaim, 1994 Dodge Spirit, and 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with air bag restraint system, use extreme caution when servicing to avoid personal injury and vehicle damage. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section before servicing steering wheel or column.

Disconnect intermittent wiper switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, test for continuity between specified switch terminals. See INTERMITTENT WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITYΒ  . See Fig 1 .

For test purposes, going clockwise:

  • First is OFF position.
  • Counterclockwise rotation is DELAY position.
  • Next detent is LOW position.
  • Full counterclockwise is HIGH position.
INTERMITTENT WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals
OFF 6 (BRN/WHT) & 7 (DK GRN/WHT)
DELAY (1) 1 (WHT/BLK) & 2 (VIO); 1 (WHT/BLK) & 4 (DK BLU);
" 2 (VIO) & 4 (DK BLU); 8 (DK GRN/YEL) & 9 (BRN/WHT)
LOW 4 (DK BLU) & 6 (BRN/WHT)
HIGH 4 (DK BLU) & 5 (RED/YEL)
WASH 3 (BRN) & 4 (DK BLU)
(1) Resistance at maximum delay is 210,000-390,000 ohms. Resistance at minimum delay is zero, with ohmmeter set on high ohm scale.
