DTC B1482: Courtesy Lights Circuit (Short To Ground): Testing

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Ensure hood, glove box and sunshade mirror lids are closed. Disconnect BCM Pink 24-pin connector C2. Disconnect BCM Natural 10-pin connector C3. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, check resistance between BCM harness connector C3, terminal "F" (Orange wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK, then RUN position. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B1482 is set, go to next step. If DTC B1482 is not set, go to step  6 .
  4. Repair short to ground in Orange wire between BCM connector C3 and appropriate courtesy light. Go to step  7 .
  5. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. Go to step  7 .
  6. System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
