- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVEΒ .
- Select BODY on scan tool system selection menu. Select BODY FUNCTION CONTROLLER and data. If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, go to step Β 4 .
- Read DTCs with scan tool. If more than one DTC is listed, always select the first DTC listed on scan tool. If scan tool displays any current DTCs, go to BCM DTC DEFINITIONSΒ under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool does not display any current DTCs, go to step Β 5 .
- Attempt to establish communication with other systems along the class 2 serial data line (PCM, IPC). If scan tool communicates with other systems, go to DTC U1064: LOSS OF COMMUNICATIONS WITH BCMΒ . If scan tool does not communicate with other systems, go to SCAN TOOL CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICEΒ .
- Record any history DTCs. Using scan tool, clear any history DTCs. Cycle ignition off and on. Recheck for current DTCs. If scan tool displays any current DTCs, go to BCM DTC DEFINITIONSΒ under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool does not display any current DTCs, go to next step.
- Check for intermittent conditions. Go to step Β 1 and perform test while wiggling wires and connectors and tapping on components.
