Compressor Replacement: Notes
On systems where compressor equipped with "stem type" service valves (American Motors and Ford Motor Co. air conditioners) it will be possible to isolate the compressor as directed below and the entire system need not be discharged for compressor removal.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
