DTC Confirmation Test "B"
Malfunction is detected when there is a gap between angle of target and phase control angle degree. ECM will enter fail-safe mode. Possible causes are:
- IVTC position sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (REF).
- Faulty CKP sensor (POS).
- Faulty Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
To set DTC, turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR with scan tool. Ensure engine coolant temperature is 158-194Β°F (70-90Β°C). Drive vehicle uphill (to increase engine load) with transmission in 1st gear and engine speed held at a constant speed (2000-3000 RPM) for at least 20 seconds. When to See a Mechanic
