DTC Confirmation Test "A"
Malfunction is detected when Intake Valve Timing Control (IVTC) system components are not aligned properly. ECM will enter fail-safe mode. Possible causes are:
- IVTC position sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (REF).
- Faulty CKP sensor (POS).
- Faulty Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
To set DTC, turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR with scan tool. Ensure engine coolant temperature is more than 158Β°F (70Β°C). Drive vehicle uphill (to increase engine load) with transmission in 1st gear and engine speed more than 2000 RPM for at least 10 seconds. Stop vehicle and let engine idle for at least 20 seconds. When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
