Heated Oxygen Sensor Monitor

2001 Mitsubishi Montero XLSSECTION Heated Oxygen Sensor Monitor

This monitor applies to DTCs P0132, P0133, P0134, P0137, P0138, P0139, P0152, P0153, P0154, P0157, P0158 and P0159. Following conditions must be met during test:

  • Engine coolant temperature is 176-203°F (80-95°C).
  • Ambient temperature is 14°F (-10°C) or more.
  • Selector lever is in "D" range.

This one trip monitor, takes about 5 minutes to complete. Remove all test equipment (except scan tool) from vehicle and install all components and connectors that were removed or disconnected during testing. Select throttle opening angle data. Find a flat surface (no hills) to run monitor. To run monitor, use illustration and perform following steps. See Fig 1. Step numbers in procedure will correspond to step numbers in illustration.

  1. After engine coolant temperature is at 176-203°F (80-95°C), turn off ignition.
  2. Start engine and quickly accelerate to 35-40 MPH.
  3. While keeping accelerator pedal opening degree constant, keep vehicle speed at 35-40 MPH for 2 minutes or more. Do not turn steering wheel.
  4. Stop vehicle and turn ignition off.
