Diagnostic Procedure

2001 Mitsubishi Mirage LS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Diagnostic Procedure
  1. Start engine and let idle. Ensure radiator fan, headlights, rear defogger and stoplights are off. Backprobe and check voltage between generator field connector terminal No. 4. See Figure . In sequence, turn headlights, rear defogger and stoplights on. Voltage should drop when accessories are turned on. If voltage does not drop, go to next step. If voltage drops, replace ECM. go to step Β 4 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator field 4-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on. Check harness side voltage between generator field harness connector terminal No. 4 (White wire) and ground. Voltage should be 4.8-5.2 volts. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, check for loose or poor connection at generator field harness connector. If problem exists, repair connector or wiring as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace generator. Go to step Β 4 .
