Removing and installing/replacing left or right tailgate lock (Cooper Convertible)
Preliminary work needed:Β
- Remove tailgate TRIM PANELΒ .
Removal:Β
Unscrew nuts (1).
Turn drive unit for tailgate lock (2) upwards.
Slacken nut (1).
Take out cover for theft protection (2) from the guide (3).
Detach Bowden cable (1) from the steering lever (2).
Lever out the Bowden cable on the counter bearing (3).
Release cable connector (1) on left plug connection (2) or on the right Bowden cable (3.
Only for the left lift gate latch:Β
Disconnect plug connection (2).
Release screws (4) on tailgate lock (5).
Take out the tailgate lock (5) including Bowden cable.
Installation:Β
Insert the tailgate lock (5) including Bowden cable.
Tighten screws (4) on tailgate lock (5).
Tightening torque 51 24 1AZ .
Mount cable connector (1) on left plug connection (2) or on the right Bowden cable (3.
Only for the left lift gate latch:Β
Connect plug connection (2).
Attach the Bowden cable on the counter bearing (3).
Clip Bowden cable (1) on the steering lever (2).
Insert cover for theft protection (2) into the guide (3).
Tighten nut (1).
Install engine of lift gate latch (2).
Tighten down nuts (1).
Tightening torque 51 24 7AZ .
Required follow-up work:Β
- Install the tailgate TRIM PANELΒ .
