36 12 001 Replacing a tire (removing and installing support ring): Removal

Removal of the support ring is described separately from installation. Assembly sequence for removal and installation is different.

CAUTION: The support ring of the BMW limp-home system can only be removed after the tire has been destroyed (cut open).

Release air.

Remove old balance weights from both sides of wheel.

Press off outer and inner tire beads from rim shoulder.

NOTE: Coat tire in area of rim flange with water to make it easier to remove the tire from the rim.

The rim styling shown does not apply to the specified rim of E39 Protection.
