SUBJECT
Service Engine Soon Lamp Illuminated: FC 130 Oxygen Sensor
MODEL
R50 (Cooper) vehicles equipped with the W10 engine
R52 (Cooper and Cooper S) vehicles equipped with the W10 and W11 engines
R53 (Cooper S) vehicles equipped with the W11 engine
SITUATION
The customer complains that the "Service Engine Soon" lamp is illuminated. The following fault is stored in DME memory:
FC 130 Oxygen sensor (bank 1, before cat.) - malfunction, no signal detected
CAUSE
Internal oxygen sensor signal connection issue resulting in a sporadic open circuit
PROCEDURE
Replace the pre-cat oxygen sensor.
