2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid, AWDSECTION Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Verify the stoplamps operate correctly by pressing and releasing the brake pedal with the ignition switch in the ON position. If the stoplamps do not operate correctly, refer to STOPLAMPS . If the stoplamps operate correctly, proceed to the next step.
  3. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  6. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .
  8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to SYMPTOM TABLE .

CLEAR the DTCs.CYCLE the ignition switch.RETRIEVE the DTCs.If only DTC B1596 is present, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . REPEAT the self-test.
B1676 ABS Battery Pack Voltage Out of Range GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
B2477 ABS Module Configuration Failure CONFIGURE the ABS module using As Built Data and correct tire size. REFER to AS-BUILT DATA CENTER . CLEAR the DTCs. RETRIEVE the DTCs, and verify successful module configuration. If DTC B2477 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . REPEAT the self-test.
B2900 ABS VIN Mismatched VERIFY the VIN data, the ABS module, and the PCM have the correct as-built data.

U0073 ABS Control Module Communication Bus Off REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
U1900 ABS CAN communication Bus Fault - Receive error REFER to PINPOINT TEST M: NO HIGH SPEED CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) COMMUNICATION and PINPOINT TEST N: NO MEDIUM SPEED CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) COMMUNICATION .
U2023 ABS Fault received from External Node If any other DTCs are present, DIAGNOSE those first. CLEAR all DTCs. DRIVE the vehicle. If the DTC is still present, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .
