Removal and Installation
2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid, AWDSECTION Removal and Installation

NOTE:
Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Recover refrigerant. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
- Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the RH splash shield. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- If equipped, disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
- Remove the compressor outlet fitting bolt and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb-in).
- Remove the condenser inlet fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb-in).
- Remove the compressor-to-condenser discharge line.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT OIL ADDING .
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
