Valve Springs: Installation

2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid, AWDSECTION Installation

  1. Position the valve spring and the valve spring retainers.
  2. Install the special tool between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.

  3. Use the special tool to compress the valve spring. Install the valve spring retainer keys.

  4. Remove the special tools.
  5. Install the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWERΒ .
  6. Install the spark plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION .
  7. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM .
  8. If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
