P2801 - TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR B CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) checks the gear selector position by monitoring two independent voltage signals from the transmission range (TR) sensor. The TR voltages are then compared to an allowed voltage range for each gear. The test fails when the compared voltages are out of range. This DTC indicates that two or more TR signals are low or high.
Possible Causes:
  • TR circuits shorted to ground or SIG RTN
  • TR circuits shorted to voltage or VREF
  • TR circuits open
  • Two TR VREF circuits open
  • Two TR SIG RTN circuits open
  • Two TR VREF circuits shorted to ground or SIG RTN
  • Damaged TR sensor.
