Normal Operation
The ABS module receives the brake fluid level information and the brake pedal position (BPP) switch information over the high-speed controller area network (HS-CAN) bus. The PCM provides the BPP switch information and the instrument cluster provides the brake fluid level information.
- DTC C1446 Brake Fluid Level Low/Brake Switch Circuit Failure - If during normal operation or the on-demand self test the ABS module does not receive the brake fluid level message and/or the BPP switch message, or if the BPP message is inconsistent with other sensor information, DTC C1446 will be set.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Brake fluid level
- BPP switch
- Instrument cluster
- PCM

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
