Valve Seals: Installation

2009 Mercury Milan Premier, 3.0 1, AWDSECTION Installation

  1. Install the valve stem seal installation sleeve.

  2. Using the special tool, install the valve seal.

  3. NOTE: Check the seating of the valve collet.
  4. Using the special tools, install the valve spring.
    • Insert the valve spring and the valve spring retainer.
    • Compress the valve spring and install the valve collet using some grease and a small screwdriver.

  5. Disconnect the compressed air supply.
  6. Repeat the appropriate removal and installation steps for all of the other cylinders.
  7. Install the spark plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 2.3L .
  8. Coat the valve tappets with clean engine oil and insert them.
  9. Install the camshafts. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFTSΒ .
