Valve Spring, Retainer and Seal: Removal

  1. Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWERΒ .
  2. NOTE: If air pressure has forced the piston to the bottom of the cylinder, any loss of air pressure will allow the valve(s) to fall into the cylinder. A rubber band, tape or string wrapped around the end of the valve stem will prevent this from happening.
  3. Pressurize the cylinder using compressed air.
  4. Using the special tool, remove the key, retainer and the valve spring.

  5. NOTE:Β  Camshaft removed for clarity. Remove the valve seal.
