Steering Column: Assembly

2009 Mercury Milan Premier, 3.0 1, AWDSECTION Assembly

Floor shift vehicles 

  1. Install the inhibitor cable bracket and the 2 bolts.
    • Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  2. Column shift vehicles 

  3. Install the shift cable bracket and the 2 bolts.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  4. Install the gearshift lever and the screw.
    • Tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).

  5. NOTE: Make sure the pocket in the inhibitor for the brake shift interlock solenoid plunger is free of grease and foreign material.
