Side obstacle detection (SOD) module
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING
.NOTE: Module configuration is only required if a new Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left (SOD-L) or Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right (SOD-R) is being installed. Upload the SOD-L or SOD-R module configuration information to the scan tool. For additional information, refer to PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION (PMI)
- Remove the 3 rear fender splash shield push pins. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the 4 lower rear bumper quarter panel splash shield screws.
- Remove the rear bumper cover screw and gently flex it to access the SOD-L
or the SOD-R
.
- Remove the screw and washer.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the SOD-L or the SOD-R .
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Bracket only
- Remove the rear bumper cover. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the SOD-L or the SOD-R electrical connector and the wiring harness retainer.
- With a suitable tool, such as pliers, squeeze the retaining tabs of the bracket located in the luggage compartment behind the side carpet panel.
- With a suitable tool, such as a flat-bladed scraper, pry the bracket away from the vehicle.NOTE: The bracket has a strip of adhesion tape that holds the bracket to the vehicle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Download the SOD-L or the SOD-R configuration information. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
- Verify in the programmable parameters that the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system are enabled in the SOD-L
and SOD-R
.NOTE: When enabling the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system make sure to enable the systems in both the SOD-L and the SOD-R . Failure to do so will result in a mismatch system fault.
- After the SOD-L or the SOD-R is configured, shift the selector lever though all the transaxle gear positions (PRNDL).
NOTE: When installing the bracket, make sure the retaining tab portion of the bracket snaps firmly into the vehicle and 2 audible clicks are heard.
