1999 Mercury Sable LS, 4D Sedan, 3.0 SSECTION DTC B1349: Defogger Circuit Short To Power
  1. Remove rear window defogger relay. Measure voltage between ground and defogger relay harness connector pin No. 85. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace rear window defogger relay.
  2. Unplug 19-pin harness connector from Generic Electronic Module (GEM), located in interior fuse panel. Measure voltage between ground and rear defogger relay connector terminal No. 85. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, replace fuse panel. If battery voltage does not exist, replace GEM and recheck for DTCs.
