  1. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) harness connector C248. See Figure . Measure resistance in Brown/Light Green wire between ground and terminal No. 8 at GEM harness connector C248. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step Β 3 .
  2. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module harness connector C254. See Figure . Measure resistance in Brown/Light Green wire between ground and terminal No. 8 at GEM harness connector C248. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Green wire between terminal No.8 at GEM harness connector C248 and terminal No. 10 at RAP module harness connector C254. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace RAP module.
  3. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to data link connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select WIGGLE TEST on NGS tester. Flex harness between RAP module and GEM. Also wiggle connectors at RAP module and GEM. If DTC B1607 or B1610 are retrieved, repair intermittent short in Brown/Light Green wire between terminal No. 8 at GEM harness connector C248 and terminal No. 10 at RAP module harness connector C254. If DTC B1607 or B1610 are not retrieved, go to next step.
  4. Repeat GEM self-test. If any DTCs are retrieved except DTC 1610, perform appropriate DTC test. If DTC B1610 is retrieved, replace GEM.
